Nocturno Culto (civil Ted Skjellum ) is a Norwegian musician. He is best known as the singer, guitarist and bassist of the metal band Darkthrone .

biography

Skjellum joined the then death metal band Darkthrone in 1988 . A New Dimension was made in autumn 1988 , the first recording with him. When the band turned to black metal in 1991 , he adopted the pseudonym "Nocturno Culto".

In 1996 he worked under the pseudonym "Kveldulv" with Satyricon , in 1997 he left the black metal scene.

In 2004 Nocturno Culto performed with Satyricon at the Wacken Open Air and covered several songs from Darkthrone with the band. In winter 2005 he worked alongside numerous other guest musicians such as Gaahl von Trelldom and Hoest von Taake on the album Secht of the project of the same name by Vrangsinn ( Carpathian Forest ) and Dirge Rep ( Gehenna ), which was released in 2006.

In 2007 Nocturno Culto's film The Misanthrope was released , for which he also composed the music; this moves between electronics, industrial and isolated metal elements.

In 2008 he sang on the album Vorunah , a solo album by the Norwegian musician Sarke. After the arrival of additional musicians, Nocturno Culto is the singer and since 2014 guitarist of the band that has grown out of it, which also performs live and has now released three albums.
