history

The place appeared for the first time in 1281 as Nol , when a document mentions the donation of various goods near Noll from the possession of Hermann von Rennenberg to the St. Katharinen monastery . Other spellings of the place name, which probably describes a "rounded elevation" ( Nol ), were Nohl , Nell and Nüll . In 1421 the monastery in Noll had two houses and lands that were obliged to pay Kurmeden and interest. In 1450, according to the list of heads of households contained in an interest register , the place had around 20, in 1620 around 30 inhabitants. In 1710, the monastery acquired a second farm here.

As part of the Linzer Höhe, Noll was under the administration of the Electoral Cologne Office of Linz until the beginning of the 19th century . Since 1809 the village belonged to the newly formed Hargarten municipality (only two houses on the outskirts of the municipality of Notscheid), from 1816 in the administrative district of the Linz mayor . In 1828 Noll had five farms , in 1843 it was listed as a hamlet with eight residential and 24 farm buildings . In 1848 Noll received a St. Holy house consecrated to Wendelin . In the middle of the 19th century, the population of the village consisted of 70% farmers and 30% day laborers ; in 1885 there were nine day laborers and ten arable workers.

In the middle of the 20th century, the Wendelinus Chapel fell victim to a road widening and was replaced by a new building.
