Nomada alboguttata is a bee from the family of Apidae . The species has different forms. The first, small, dark red and black with whitish spots flies in April and parasitizes Andrena ventralis . The second, bright reddish colored form with yellow spots flies from late April to June and parasitizes Andrena barbilabris . Nomada baccata is very similar to the species.

features

The bees are six to ten millimeters long (females) or six to nine millimeters (males). The females are colored red and have yellow or whitish spots on the tergites . The labrum is red and has a tooth in front of the middle. The third antenna segment is the same length as the fourth. The almost monochrome red, densely punctiform structured label ( scutellum ) has weak bumps. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs have a tooth at the end and several very long, black colored, slightly curved thorns. The males are mainly black and red in color, the lower half of the face, the underside of the antennae and the spots on the tergites are light yellow. The thorax is black, the calli and tegulae are red-yellow. The third antenna segment is significantly shorter than the fourth. The thighs ( femora ) of the middle and rear legs are short and densely hairy below. At the end of the rear rails, like the female, there are some curved thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in large parts of Europe. The animals fly from early April to late July. The species parasitizes Andrena barbilabris and Andrena ventralis .
