Nonnosius Madlseder

Nonnosius Madlseder (also Nonnos , Nonodus or Nonnosus Johannes Baptist Madlseder) (born June 20, 1730 in Meran , † April 3, 1797 in Andechs ) was a Benedictine priest and church composer in the Andechs monastery .

Life

Madlseder came from Meran . He received his education in Hall in Tirol , in Polling Abbey and in Weihenstephan Abbey . In 1749 he entered Andechs Monastery. There he received his musical training from Gregor Schreyer . After his death in 1767, Madlseder was his successor as choirmaster and teacher. Madlseder wrote psalms , offertories , versers and other music for liturgical use , which also appeared in print. He died in Andechs, where he was last also a subprior .
