Norbert Hofmann (born June 19, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German local politician of the SPD and former district administrator of the Bergstrasse district . During his tenure as district administrator, Norbert Hofmann was also chairman of the Naturpark Bergstrasse-Odenwald eV association. Under his direction, the starting shot was given for the association's inclusion in the UNESCO Global Network of Geoparks.

Professional background

After studying politics and Romance languages ​​in Mannheim, Heidelberg, Marburg and Besançon (France), he was in the school service from 1970 to 1981. Until his election as mayor of the city of Viernheim, he was director of studies and educational director of the comprehensive school in Bürstadt.

Political career

From 1968 to 1981 Hofmann was a member of the city council of Viernheim and was elected to the city council in 1981 and mayor of the city of Viernheim in 1987. He held this office until 1997. From 1997 to 2003 he was the district administrator of the Bergstrasse district .
