Matthias Wilkes
Matthias Wilkes (born October 20, 1959 in Dortmund ) is a German CDU local politician . From September 16, 2003 to September 15, 2015, he was District Administrator of the Bergstrasse district in Hesse .
Professional background
After graduating from high school in 1979, he served in the Bundeswehr until 1981 . Following this, he studied until 1988 law a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . In 1988 he was employed by the Karl Kübel Foundation; initially as an assistant to the management and then as a special representative for the reallocation of real estate assets. He then became head of the real estate department and received power of attorney . In 1991 he was appointed chairman of the board. From 1995 he was chairman of the board of trustees. After his election to the district administrator of the Bergstrasse district, he gave up this activity in 2003.
Political career
From 1989 to 2003 Wilkes was the community representative of the Lautertal community and from 1989 to 1993 a member of the Reichenbach local council . He headed the Lautertal municipal council from 1993 to 2001. In 1993 he was elected to the district council of the Bergstrasse district, was deputy parliamentary group chairman from 1997 to 2001 and until 2003 chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group. In 2003 he was elected district administrator of the Bergstrasse district and re-elected in 2009 with 57.5% of the vote. He was not available for a new candidacy in 2015.
