Norbert Kostede

Norbert Kostede (born January 4, 1948 in Dortmund ) is a German social and political scientist .

Career

His main research interests in the 1970s and 1980s were state and democracy theory , urban sociology and local politics . In the 1990s he turned to the analysis of the social effects of digital information and communication technologies.

Kostede taught and researched at the University of Bielefeld , Faculty of Sociology, and at the Leibniz University of Hanover , Institute for Political Science. After his doctorate in social sciences (1978) and his habilitation (1985) with the license to teach political science, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Art appointed him an extraordinary professor in 1990.

After his political engagement in the Socialist Office in Offenbach , Kostede joined the Green Party in 1979 . From 1985 to 1987 he was a member of the national executive committee of this party.

From 1990 to 1994 he worked as a political editor and author of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .

From 1994 to 2014 he worked as a scientific advisor to German and American companies (including Heidelberger Druckmaschinen , IBM , Microsoft ). His consulting activity was based on the investigation of digital information and communication media and their effects on the modern corporate and living environment.

Kostede has lived with his main residence in Berlin since 1998, where he now works as a freelance author and publicist.
