Norbert Marohn

Norbert Marohn (born January 27, 1952 in Neuruppin ) is a German writer .

Life

As the oldest of three children, Marohn grew up on a farm. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Institute for International Relations in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1970 to 1975 . He ended his work in the GDR Foreign Ministry from September 1975 to October 1976 at his own request. From November 1976 he was called up for basic military service for 18 months . He began studying drama directing in Berlin in September 1978 and dropped out after nine months .

Marohn moved to Leipzig in order to work as a company newspaper editor in a rolling bearing factory from May 1979 . From September 1982 to August 1985 he studied at the Leipzig Institute of Literature. He broke off his subsequent assistantship at the German Studies Section at the University of Leipzig in May 1986. Since then he has lived, with interruptions, as a freelance writer. From 1987 to 1990 he led a group of writing workers . Since the 1980s Marohn has published poems, essays, book and theater reviews in magazines and newspapers. In 1987 his first radio play was produced and broadcast, and since then texts have been written and written for the radio time and again. His first book was published in 1990.

From October 1991 until the end of 1992 Marohn worked for the Sachsen-Osteuropa e. V . From autumn 1993 until the end of 1998 he worked as a freelancer for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.

Marohn moved to Munich in order to write a documentary novel biography about Ernst Röhm from 1999 - prepared by lengthy archive studies - which he completed in 2003. From mid-2001 to 2006 he worked as a receptionist.

After the stopover in Göttingen , he returned to Leipzig, where he lives today. Since then he has published other biographies, prose, poems and essays.

Marohn is a member of the Association of German Writers .
