Norbert Stöbe

Norbert Stöbe (born October 25, 1953 in Troisdorf ) is a German translator and science fiction writer .

Life

Norbert Stöbe first studied ethnology and sociology in Bonn. After training as a chemical-technical assistant in Reutlingen, he studied chemistry at the RWTH in Aachen from 1977 to 1988. In 1982 he started writing fiction texts. From 1989 he worked at the Institute of Textile Chemistry and Macromolecular Chemistry at RWTH Aachen University, while he also began working as a translator, which he deepened in 1995 through further training in the college of translators.

Stöbe translated works by James Rollins , Alastair Reynolds , Ken MacLeod , Philip K. Dick and Patrick Woodrow into German. He received the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis twice , in 1988 for his novel New York is heavenly , and in 1995 for his story Der Durst der Stadt . His short story Ten Points was awarded the German Science Fiction Prize in 1992 . After his early SF novels, he has only published contemporary texts since 1995. It was not until 2009 that numerous stories and narratives appeared again in magazines and as an e-book, followed by the SF novel Morgenröte by Heyne in 2014 .

Stöbe has lived in Stolberg - Dorff since 2005 .
