Norbert Waszek

Norbert Waszek (born December 11, 1953 in Deggendorf ) is a German philosopher and Germanist who has lived and taught in Paris since 1993 .

Life

Norbert Waszek grew up in Krefeld and graduated from high school at Moltkeplatz in 1973 . After his community service in a hospital, he studied philosophy, social sciences and history at the Ruhr University Bochum (MA 1978), then at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Stirling (M.Litt. 1980). He earned his doctorate at Christ's College of Cambridge University (Ph.D. 1984). This was followed by teaching and research at the universities of Auckland / New Zealand (1984), Hanover (1985–1987), at the Hegel Archive in Bochum (1987/88), Erlangen (1988–1992), Paris (Maison des Sciences de l ' Homme) and University of Paris VIII : Saint-Denis. In 1998 he completed his habilitation with Bernard Bourgeois at the Sorbonne ( University of Paris I ). From 1999 to 2003 Waszek was Professor of German Civilization and the History of Ideas at the University of Rouen . On September 1, 2003, he followed a call to the University of Paris VIII (Saint-Denis). In 2006 he was promoted to professeur de première classe and in 2012 to the class exceptionnelle .

Waszek's main research interests include the history of philosophy and ideas from the 18th and 19th centuries. Among other things, he published on the Enlightenment , German Idealism and the Hegelian School .
