Norbert Wolff (theologian)
Norbert Wolff (* 1962 in Nieheim ) is a German theologian , social worker, church historian and university professor.
Life
Wolff grew up in Steinheim (Westphalia) . After graduating from high school in 1980 at the municipal high school Blomberg / Lippe (today: Hermann-Vöchting-Gymnasium ) and the novitiate of the Salesians Don Bosco in Jünkerath and Helenenberg , he studied social work at the Benediktbeuern department of the Catholic Foundation University in Munich from 1981 to 1986 . He also studied Catholic theology from 1981 to 1989 at the Philosophical-Theological College (PTH) Benediktbeuern . He graduated from both courses with oneDiploma .
From 1990 to 1993 Wolff led social pedagogical-pastoral activities Youth Don Bosco in Trier-West of, then he graduated to 1997 doctoral studies at the Theological Faculty of Trier , which he in 1998 with the graduation to the Dr. theol. with the work between "false enlightenment" and "obscurantism". The pastor, biblical scholar and educator Peter Alois Gratz (1769–1849) graduated.
Before he became a lecturer in church history at the Philosophical-Theological University Benediktbeuern in 1997, he carried out pastoral activities in the pastoral care unit Trier-West / Pallien. In 2001 he was appointed to the professorship for church history at the Philosophical-Theological University of Benediktbeuern. From 2005 he was Vice-Rector there .
In 2012 Wolff left the Order of the Salesians of Don Bosco to get married. He also gave up the positions at the university.
Research priorities
Wolff's focal points include the German church history of the early 19th century and the history of the order community of the Salesians of Don Bosco .
