The Nordic Battlegroup ( German  Nordic Combat Group ) is one of 18 EU Battlegroups . It consists of around 2500 soldiers (Sweden: 1900, Finland: 60, Norway: 50, Ireland: 170, Estonia: 50, Latvia: 150 and Lithuania: 50). Strategic command is in collaboration with the United Kingdom .

    history

The unit was set up on January 1, 2008 and was on standby from that time until the end of June 2008. She has not yet participated in military operations.

    coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a lion, in the original with an erect penis, as is often the case with heraldic lions. The penis was removed by Swedish women soldiers after protests. Vladimir Sagerlund , the heraldist who designed the coat of arms, said: “The military doesn't understand heraldry. [...] I cannot vouch for the emasculated expenditure. Heraldic shields without genitals used to be given to those who betrayed the crown. "
