Japan took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1930 at Holmenkollen in the Norwegian capital Oslo with an athlete. It was the first time that a Japanese representative had taken part in a pure World Ski Championships outside of the Winter Olympics .

Takeharu Asō only took part in the endurance run over 50 km and completed it in the time of 4: 57: 07.0 h.
