The northern ryggane ( Norwegian for north ridge ) are a mountain group of mountain ridges and nunataks in Queen Maud's East Antarctic land . They are part of the Smedfjella in the center of the Sør Rondane Mountains .
Scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute named them in 2017 after their geographical location within Smedfjella.
