Norman Roy Blackwell, Baron Blackwell (* 29. July 1952 ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party and businessman .

biography

Blackwell, son of Albert and Frances Blackwell, first attended the Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith and then the Royal Academy of Music in London . Blackwell graduated in 1973 at the Trinity College of Cambridge University with a Master of Arts in Natural Science. He then attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania , where he received a Master of Business Administration in 1975 and a Ph.D. in 1976. completed.

Norman Blackwell was with McKinsey & Company from 1978 to 1994. After serving as a consultant from 1986 to 1987, he became head of the Prime Minister's Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street in 1995 ; he held this position until 1997. From 2000 to 2003 he was a director of the Dixons Group and subsequently became a director of Standard Life . He is currently Chairman of Interserve Plc and the Center for Policy Studies .

On August 2, 1997, he became a Life Peer as Baron Blackwell , of Woodcote in the County of Surrey appointed and has been a member of the House of Lords .

He married Brenda Clucas in 1974. They have three sons and two daughters: Jane, Simon, Sarah, Richard and William Blackwell.
