Notholirion thomsonianum is a species in the genus Notholirion from the lily family (Liliaceae). It is native to Asia.

description

The plant reaches a height of 100 cm and, like all species of the genus, is monocarp . The inflorescence is a raceme with 10 to 30 funnel-shaped, horizontally protruding flowers . The pale purple flower is fragrant. The 5 to 6.5 centimeters long and 4 to 6 millimeters wide bracts have a green tip that is slightly bent outwards.

distribution

The species is native from the northwestern Himalayas to eastern Afghanistan.

Systematics and botanical history

Notholirion thomsonianum was first described by John Forbes Royle in 1839 as Lilium thomsonianum , but was placed in the genus Fritillaria by him as early as 1840 . In 1934 it was assigned to the genus Notholirion by Otto Stapf .
