history
As early as the 11th century, the Counts of Évreux had built a castle in Fontaine-Saint-Denis here in Gravenchon. The Norman Robert then expanded the castle into a residence.
In 1823 the parishes of Saint-Georges-de-Gravenchon and Notre-Dame were united to form the last existing parish. The industrial area of Port-Jérôme, which is still important today, was founded in 1861 by Emperor Napoleon III. opened. With the German occupation from 1940 onwards, the refineries were partially destroyed and rebuilt after the liberation in August 1944.
With effect from January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Auberville-la-Campagne , Notre-Dame-de-Gravenchon , Touffreville-la-Cable and Triquerville were merged and have since formed a commune nouvelle called Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine .
