Nochniye Snaiperi ( "The night Sharp shooters", Russian Ночные Снайперы ) is a Russian rock band that of Diana Arbenina (already in 1993 Диана Арбенина (born July 8, 1974) Valozhyn , Belarus ) first together with Svetlana Surganowa ( Светлана Сурганова ) was founded in Saint Petersburg as a duo for acoustic music. Svetlana Surganova left the group on December 17, 2002 as a result of a series of creative differences with Diana Arbenina. After leaving, Svetlana founded the new collective “Surganova and Orchestra”, and the name “Notschnyje Snaipery” remained for the team that Diana Arbenina is currently leading.

First years

The band's roots go back to 1993, when Diana Arbenina and Svetlana Surganowa met in St. Petersburg and briefly formed an acoustic duet. The activity of the duo was briefly interrupted by Arbenina's move to his parents in Magadan , but was then continued with the arrival of Surganova there (already under the name Notschnye Snaipery ). In 1994 a musical competition led the duo back to St. Petersburg via a qualifying round in Samara . There the band established itself in the following two years with appearances in various clubs (including in "Sasada", "Bely Krolik", "Romantik" and "Tonika") as well as on several other occasions. The two artists also took part in a musical competition on television ( Wesj Peterburg ) and in festivals. In November 1996 the first foreign appearance took place at a student festival in Denmark . In 1997 the line-up was expanded to include bass and drums. Further appearances at festivals, exhibitions and night clubs followed. In August 1998, the group finally released their first release, the double album A Drop of Tar in the Honey Pot ( Капля дегтя в бочке меда ). The compositions were rated very positively and included in the program of some radio broadcasts. The band toured a lot in Russia in the following years, but there were also gigs abroad (including in Sweden and Finland ).

Career as a rock band

Towards the end of 1998 the decision was finally made to further develop the group's previously purely acoustic music in the direction of "electrically amplified" rock music. The new bassist Goga Kopylow and drummer Alik Potapkin joined them. This clearly changed the character of the music; Nevertheless, the group continued to be well received and in August 1999 released the second album Kindergeplapper ( Детский лепет ). Two years later, in the summer of 2001, another album followed: Die Schranke ( Рубеж ), with a number 1 placement of the song 31. Spring ( 31-я весна ) on the radio station Nasche Radio . The band then received a contract with the label "Real Records".

The work on the follow-up album Tsunami was completed in autumn 2002. However, the founding member Svetlana Surganowa left the band shortly afterwards at the insistence of Diana Arbenina. In the next few years Svetlana pursued a solo career and brought the group together under the name "Surganowa and Orchestra". In February 2003, the biggest solo performance took place in the “Luzhniki” sports complex. The 10th anniversary of the group was celebrated with a double concert in the "B2" club. In the summer of 2004, the rock band took part in the rock festival in Berlin. After a longer creative break, the album SMS was released in October 2004 , with which new musical paths were broken.

In 2005 Diana Arbenina was first honored with the Russian “Triumph” award “For achievements in the field of literature and art”. In the winter, to everyone's surprise, concerts were held in Moscow with the Japanese musician Kazufumi Miyazawa . The motto of the concerts, "Shimauta", corresponds to the title song of the single Japanese story ( японская история ). Together with the Russian group BI-2 ( БИ-2 ) another joint project took place: “The Unfair Warrior” ( Нечетный воин ). In addition, the Unplugged album was trigonometry 2 ( Тригонометрия-2 published), and in Japan the album Koschika ( Кошика ), which first appeared in 2006 in Russia.

In the first half of 2006, the group toured the United States (Boston) and Israel. In January 2007 another tour led through five cities in the USA. There were also tours in Israel, Kazakhstan, Belarus, the Ukraine and several tours in Russia. In total, the band performed more than 70 concerts that year. From October 27th to November 6th 2011 Notschnyje Snaipery were on tour in Germany. Concerts took place in Munich, Nuremberg, Berlin, Bielefeld, Hamburg, Dortmund, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, and Stuttgart.

In 2011 and later in 2012 Diana Arbenina took part as a trainer in the Ukrainian music project “The Voice of the Country” on the TV channel “1 + 1”. In April 2012, the ACT publishing house published a new book Autodafe ( Аутодафе ) by Diana Arbenina. The new album 4 was released in September 2012 . Several of the songs on this album became concert and radio hits even before the record was released. In April 2013 the band again had several appearances in Germany. The venues were Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, and Munich.

On December 5, 2013 Diana Arbenina gave a big anniversary concert "XX years on the stage", which consisted of two parts. In the first part Diana presented her program, and in the second part the group “Notschnye Snaipery” was a special guest. A total of 38 songs were performed there and 6 poems were read. To sing the last song "A Moscow Cat" with Diana and the rock band together, 100 people came on stage, the choir of snipers, consisting of fans of the band.

At the end of December 2013 it was announced that the composition of the "Notschnye Snaipery" had been changed because Ivan Iwolga and Andrew Titkov had left the team. Denis Schdanow became the new lead guitarist, and “the snipers” decided to temporarily stop using the piano.

The first concert with the new line-up took place on January 13, 2014. In the second half of January 2014, Arbenina went on a tour through the countries of Southeast Asia for the first time with an acoustic concert. While in Thailand, she recorded the album “Der Junge am Ball” with studio musicians (on July 9, 2014 - delivery).
