Emergency unit

The emergency unit was a supraregional special unit of the fire brigades of Bavaria set up for disasters and accidents .

definition

The emergency units had their origins in the post-war period, when many fire brigades in Bavaria only had a small amount of vehicles and equipment and were unable to provide sufficient help in the event of major damage. Therefore, in larger fire brigades, fire brigades and many special vehicles for supra-local operations were combined into emergency units, also called emergency remote readiness . As the name implies, the emergency remote readiness units were set up as a tactical association of size 1 "readiness" .

deployment

There were the following emergency units:

Strength

The emergency units usually consisted of two trains , a command unit with the on-call officer and the respective pool of special vehicles adapted to the damage situation.

Further development

The emergency units were replaced by the aid contingents newly created in Bavaria in 2008 , which were now set up in larger numbers in Bavaria than after various floods, the snow disaster and several forest fires, the Ministry of the Interior saw the need to bundle more forces into a damaged area.
