Novofastiw ( Ukrainian Новофастів ; Russian Новофастов Nowofastow , Polish Nowochwastów ) is a village in the northeast of the Ukrainian Vinnytsia Oblast with about 970 inhabitants (2001).

The village founded in the 18th century was called Голофастів Holofastiv until 1805 .

Novofastiw is the administrative center of the eponymous, 0.538 km² district council in the northeast of Pohrebyschtsche Rajon , to which the village of Burkivtsi ( Бурківці , ) with about 100 inhabitants belongs.

The village is located at an altitude of 214  m on the bank of the Orichowatka ( Оріховатка ), a 34 km long left tributary of the Ros , 20 km northeast of the Pohrebyshche district center and about 90 km northeast of the Vinnytsia oblast center . The T-02-03 territorial road runs through the village .

Personalities

The Polish-British writer Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) lived in the village for a while .
