Nualphan Lamsam ( Thai นวล พรรณ ล่ำ ซำ , RTGS transcription Nuanphan Lamsam ; born March 21, 1966 in Bangkok ) is a Thai manager , sports official and politician ( Democratic Party ).

She is also known by her nickname, Madame Pang .

Career

Nualphan studied first at the Chulalongkorn University in the bachelor and later also at the Boston University in the master management . She has been Chief Executive Officer of Muang Thai Life Assurance PCL since February 2014 , but previously worked for the company in various positions. She also served as Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party in Thailand between 2006 and 2016 . Since 2015 she has been the chairman of the soccer club Port FC , which plays in the Thai League of the country's top division. In 2019, Nualphan and the team celebrated winning the Thai FA Cup . In addition, between 2008 and 2019, Nualphan was the manager of the Thai women's national soccer team .

Through her work in women's football, Nualphan gained national fame in June 2019, while her country took part in the 2019 Women's World Cup in France . Thailand lost the first group game against the USA 13-0 . In the second group game, the team was 4-0 behind against Sweden when Kanjana Sung-Ngoen scored the 4-1 goal in the first minute of stoppage time . Nualphan celebrated the goal euphorically on the sidelines and burst into tears despite the team's second major defeat (the game ended 5-1 for the Swedes). Her emotionality was met with great positive media coverage. Nevertheless, both she and head coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian immediately resigned from their previous positions in the national soccer team after the World Cup.

Nualphan has a good chance of being nominated by the Democratic Party as a candidate for governor in Bangkok in the election, which is expected to take place in 2020. Her cousin Banthoon Lamsam is the CEO of Kasikornbank .

In April 2017 she published her autobiography Madame Pang - Nualphan Lamsam.
