The Nuevo Estadio de la Victoria is a football stadium in the Spanish city of Jaén , Autonomous Community of Andalusia . It has a capacity of 12,569 and is the home of Real Jaén .
history
The Nuevo Estadio de la Victoria opened in 2001. The first game in this stadium took place between Real Jaén and Polideportivo Ejido . The match, which was a second division game between two teams that are active in the third Spanish division today, ended 3-1 for the hosts. Three days earlier, on August 29th, the stadium in Jaén was officially opened. The Estadio Nuevo de la Victoria was sold out for the first time in 2009 during the relegation games for promotion to the Segunda División against the second team of Villarreal , which then finally prevailed and prevented Real Jaén from being promoted. During its existence from 2001 to today, the Nuevo Estadio de la Victoria was relatively well filled compared to the other stadiums in Segunda División B , but this was probably due to the arena's convenient location on the outskirts of Jaén and the short distance the stands are off the field. The Spanish U21 national football team has also played a game at the Nuevo Estadio de la Victoria, namely one against Portugal, which Spain won 2-1.
The Nuevo Estadio de la Victoria is a stadium that has replaced its predecessor. This was called Estadio de la Victoria and was built in 1944. In the end, the Estadio de la Victoria could seat 11,500 spectators. The problem, however, was that this stadium was located right in the center of the city and the spectators often did not watch the game from the stands in the stadium, but from their balconies on the sides of the nearby houses, which of course led to significantly lower income because the Spectators watched the games for free. This fact and the increasing age of the Estadio de la Victoria led to the idea of building a new venue for Real Jaén in 2001. The last game in the old stadium was the last league game of the 2000/01 season between Real Jaén and Betis Sevilla , which Betis won 2-0 and thus celebrated promotion to the Primera División . Finally, the Estadio de la Victoria was demolished in 2005.
