Nura - Lord of the Yokai ( Japanese ぬ ら り ひ ょ ん の 孫 , Nurarihyon no Mago , Eng. "Nurarihyon's grandson") is a manga series, written and illustrated by Hiroshi Shiibashi . It has been released in Japan since 2008 and belongs to the genres action and mystery . A companion CD to the manga series was released in December 2009. Since 2010, Studio Deen has also produced two anime adaptations.

Rikuo Nura is partly human and a quarter is yōkai (demon). He lives with his yōkai grandfather in a house that is filled with ghosts and demons. Rikuo Nura tries to escape his fate as a yōkai by doing good deeds, although his grandfather wants him to succeed him as lord of the Nura- Yōkai clan. As the series progresses, Rikuo Nura reconciles with his demonic ancestry and decides to assume the position at the top of the clan. However, various interest groups try to prevent him or even to take his position. To fight for his position in the clan, a group of friends and comrades has to unite under his banner and thus establish a new Hyakki Yakō .

The manga was first published in 2007 as a one-shot , but was then continuously expanded into a series in the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from March 2008 to January 2013 . The Shūeisha publishing house regularly summarized the individual chapters in anthologies , 25 of which were published.

The manga was released under license in the USA in spring 2011. From March 2012 to March 2016 the manga was published in Germany under the title Nura - Herr der Yokai at Kazé Germany . There are also translations into Chinese and French.

Anime

Nurarihyon no Mago

Studio Deen adapted the series as an anime television series directed by Junji Nishimura . The first broadcast took place from July 6th to December 28th 2010 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on Yomiuri TV in the Kinki region. Tokyo MX in the Kantō region and Chūkyō TV in the Chūkyō region followed with a one-day delay, and from July 10th nationwide via satellite BS11 . Starting on the 19th, they were also streamed on the Internet on Bandai Channel and Animax Asia. The series was licensed for North America by Viz Media under the name Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. where the episodes were streamed weekly with subtitles on the Internet, a few hours after they were first broadcast on Japanese television.

The series will appear on eight DVDs after it has aired.

The opening credits Fast Forward (episodes 1-13) and Sunshine (episodes 14-25) will be sung by Monkey Majik and the credits, Sparky ☆ Start (episodes 1-13), Symphonic ☆ Dream (episodes 14-23) and Brilliant ☆ Message (Episode 24), by Katate Size (Aya Hirano, Yui Horie, Ai Maeda).

Nurarihyon no Mago - Sennen Makyō

The second season Nurarihyon no Mago - Sennen Makyō ( ぬ ら り ひ ょ ん の 孫 〜 千年 魔 京 〜 ) was produced for the afternoon program with a changed production staff , in which Michio Fukuda took over the direction. The first broadcast followed from July 3 to December 25, 2011 on Tokyo MX. Yomiuri TV, Nagoya TV in the Chūkyō region, and nationwide BS11 followed within a week .

The opening credits Hoshi no Arika. ( 星 の 在 処。 - ホ シ ノ ア リ カ - ; episodes 1–12) and The Love Song (from episode 13) come from LM.C , while the credits Orange Smile (episodes 2–12) and Departure (from episode 13) are from Katate Size (Aya Hirano, Yui Horie, Ai Maeda) were sung.

A special volume entitled Nurarihyon no Mago: Official Character Data Book: Ayakashi Hiroku ( ぬ ら り ひ ょ ん の 孫 キ ャ ラ ク タ ー ー 公式 デ ー タ ブ ッ ク 妖 秘録 , Nurarihyon no Mago: Kyarakutā Kōshuiki , published on July 2, 2010, contains : Dēta Bukkuiki 4 pages there is detailed information about the individual groups and characters in the series.

The first volume of the Manga series made it to number 9 on the Tohan Manga Charts, the third volume reached number 5, the fourth volume reached number 10, the fifth number 9, and the sixth number 8. Every volume since the third has sold over 100,000 times.

In 2007 Nurarihyon no Mago was voted the most popular manga by the readers of the leading manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump and was awarded the Future Gold Cup.
