Oßmaritz is a district of the municipality of Bucha in the southwest of the Saale-Holzland district , west of Jena , and part of the administrative community of the southern Saale valley .

history

With the Slavic settlement of the Saale-Ilm-Platte in the 8th to 10th century, Oßmaritz was probably also created. The place can only be documented in the late Middle Ages. The spelling Ossimbricz at the time indicates a German-Slavic mixed name. In the course of the state expansion , the place should have come into the hands of the Lords of Lobdeburg . They donated the village to the Jena city council in 1358 to maintain the foundation for the poor (Brückenhofsstiftung) in the St. Nicolai Hospital, first mentioned in 1354. However, certain jurisdictions remained in the Burgau office, as evidenced by the oldest surviving register of inhabitants from the first third of the 15th century. Despite the close ties to Jena, Oßmaritz remained with further justice in the Burgau office. Oßmaritz was assigned to the district of Stadtroda at the beginning of the 20th century . In the course of the desertification of the town of Dürrengleina east of Oßmaritz, part of this area came to Oßmaritz (today Vorwerk Cospoth).

With the dissolution of the Grand Duchy of Saxony, Oßmaritz went to the State of Thuringia, Jena-Stadtroda district. From 1952 Oßmaritz belonged to the district of Jena in the district of Gera and since 1994 to the Saale-Holzland district . With the introduction of the administrative communities within the districts, Oßmaritz was assigned to the administrative community "Südliches Saaletal". On September 17, 1961, Oßmaritz was incorporated into the municipality of Bucha.
