The O'Connell Road is a connecting road to the east of the Australian state of New South Wales . The road connects the Goulburn-Oberon Road in Oberon with the Great Western Highway , the Mitchell Highway , the Mid-Western Highway and the Bathurst-Ilford Road in Bathurst . The street is designated as Hauptstraße 253 .

The road leads from Oberon to the northwest. Shortly before O'Connell , the only settlement on the route, Tarana-O'Connell Road joins from the east . In O'Connell, O'Connell Road runs along the west bank of the Fish River and shortly after the city crosses the river, the lower reaches of which it accompanies you to Bathurst.

There the O'Connell Road meets the Mitchell Highway / Great Western Highway (R32), the Mid-Western Highway (R24) and the Bathurst-Ilford Road (S54) and ends.

Road conditions

The road is paved along its entire length and is suitable for trucks in terms of width and road surface.

Tourist importance

Together with Goulburn-Obereon Road, O'Connell Road forms a remarkable and surprisingly direct connection from Goulburn to Bathurst.
