O'Shea Jackson, Jr. (born February 24, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American rapper and actor . Jackson is the son of rapper Ice Cube , whose role he took on in the 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton .

Life

Jackson was born in Los Angeles, California. He has two brothers, Darryl and Sharif, and a sister Kareema. His brother Darryl is also a rapper and calls himself Doughboy. The role of Darin Baker ("Doughboy") played Ice Cube in the movie Boyz n the Hood .

In 2010 Jackson and his brother Darryl starred in the songs She Couldn't Make It On Her Own and Y'all Know How I Am , from their father's album I Am West. In March 2012 Jackson released his first mixtape Jackin 'for Beats under the name OMG .

Jackson initially studied screenwriting and did not plan an acting career. However, when Ice Cube produced a biopic about his former band NWA , Jackson agreed to play his father in it. He took two years of acting classes and got the role after auditioning at Universal. Straight Outta Compton was released in theaters in August 2015 .
