ODIN Bw

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The organization service for follow-up examinations after the end of an activity with the effect of carcinogenic hazardous substances in the Bundeswehr ( ODIN Bw ) has the task of taking precautionary measures for active and former Bundeswehr members (soldiers, civil servants and employees) who have been exposed to carcinogenic hazardous substances in the Bundeswehr to prevent health effects or to recognize them at an early stage and take measures.

ODIN Bw is part of the Bundeswehr Institute for Preventive Medicine .

The "follow-up precaution" includes a. Preventive occupational medical examinations , the type and scope of which are subject to the rules of the trade association. The departments report the beginning and the end of exposure of a member of the Bundeswehr to a carcinogenic hazardous substance as well as the time of his departure from the Bundeswehr to ODIN Bw. In the case of active Bundeswehr members, the examinations are carried out by the company doctor of the responsible department or a person commissioned with the investigation performed by an authorized physician. On a case-by-case basis, ODIN Bw works with both the GVS (formerly ZAs) at the BG ETEM in Augsburg and with the organization service for follow-up examinations (ODIN) at the employers' liability insurance association for the chemical industry in Heidelberg and the federal and rail accident insurance in Wilhelmshaven . About 6000 people with and without exposure are currently recorded by ODIN Bw.

For former NVA soldiers and German citizens who serve or have served in foreign armed forces ( France , Great Britain or USA ), there is currently (2015 [out of date] ) no legal basis that comprehensively regulates the level of supply.
