OUB Center (Overseas Union Bank Center, Chinese: 华联 银行 大厦) is the name of a 280-meter-high skyscraper in the city-state of Singapore . The skyscraper, built in 1986, belongs to the United Overseas Bank (UOB), after which it is also named. The skyscraper designed by the architect Kenzō Tange was the tallest building outside of North America at the time of its completion and held this title for four years until it was towered over by the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong. Since Singapore is almost on the equator, there is no heating system installed in the building .
Due to flight safety regulations, no structures may be erected in Singapore that are higher than 280 m. This leads to the somewhat strange fact that the three tallest buildings in Singapore are exactly the same height. The OUB Center shares its first place with the UOB Plaza One, built in 1992, and the Republic Plaza, completed in 1995 .
