The Obeltis is a 18.8 kilometer long river in Lithuania . It flows south of the town of Stakliškės as a left and important tributary into the Verknė , a tributary of the Memel ( Lithuanian Nemunas ). The natural and uneven river meanders very strongly and flows through a sparsely populated agricultural and forest landscape. The region is characterized by rural exodus. The catchment area has an area of 92 km².
The river is not suitable for water sports . The apple tree ( Lithuanian Obelis ) gave its name to the river .
course
The river has its source about two kilometers southwest of the town of Butrimonys . The mouth is located south of the town of Stakliškės , 27.1 kilometers above the mouth of the Verknė in the Memel.
Places along the river are (population from 2011 in brackets) : Trakininkai (89), Griškonys (42), Plasapninkai (89) and Geruliai (14) in the district of Alytus ; Baudėjos (7) and Žiupa (?) In the Prienai district .

The receiving waters are:
- left: Plasaupė, Kriaušius, Kremeza, Baudeika;
- right: Rūdija.
