Ober-Logone was an administrative district of the German colony of Cameroon located in New Cameroon . Most of its territory today belongs to the Republic of Chad .

history

The area mainly populated by Laka came from French Equatorial Africa to Cameroon (New Cameroon) as part of the Morocco-Congo Agreement and essentially comprised the former French districts of Pende , Moyen-Logone and Mao Kabi . The military occupation was carried out by the 12th Company of the Schutztruppe under Captain Bruno von Raven , which was newly established in Duala at the beginning of 1912 . On February 1, 1913, the 12th Company and its head were given administrative powers for the district, which was initially given the official name Mao Kabbi. By government decree of February 18, 1913, it was renamed Ober-Logone.

The military occupation was not without resistance from indigenous societies. The company's main focus was initially on Baibokum , where the first post was created. The bulk of the troops was later to Bumo at the confluence of Logone Occidental ( Mbéré ) and Pendé to Logone laid. Baibokum was not expanded, but remained occupied as a stage post. An additional base was built in Kondjala on the Pendé opposite the former French administrative center of Gore. At the end of 1912, the Fianga post , which initially belonged to the Adamaua residency , was occupied by an officer division of the 7th Company and on February 14, 1913, it was taken over by the 12th Company and incorporated into the Ober-Logone district.

In 1914 two expeditions were carried out to assess the definitive district seat. The central administration did not make a final decision before the outbreak of the First World War.
