The residential building Oberndorfer Straße 1 (also: Oberndorfstraße 1) is a listed building in Griesheim .

History and description

The two-storey half-timbered corner house dates from the second half of the 17th century. It has an elaborately designed gable facade that is moderately structured with man forms . There are crosses and diamonds in the parapet . The half-timbered house has a nicely profiled entablature zone . In the upper floor one is Frankish bay trained. The roof windows in the gable facade have a flat triangular notch. The gable roof is covered with beaver tail .

On the lumber of the upper floor on the gable side is the inscription:

“LARGE ENOUGH VM DEAR GOD THE WOLLSTV DON'T GIVE ME, SO GIP VND DON'T LET ME EXPERIENCE AVF GROS ARMVT.
ZV LITTLE I WANT I DON'T I WANT TOO MUCH WHAT MY GOD LOVES YOU, MY DESIRED GOAL. "

Monument protection

The house is a typical example of a half-timbered house in Griesheim. For architectural, architectural and city-historical reasons, it is a listed building .

Others

After an ancestor of the owners (Nikolaus), the house is popularly known as the "Nikolose House". The house is considered to be the most beautiful still preserved half-timbered house in Griesheim.
