Location of Oberwaldbehrungen in Bavaria |
Oberwaldbehrungen is a district of the town of Ostheim vor der Rhön in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld ( Bavaria ).
geography
Oberwaldbehrungen is located in the southern foreland of the Rhön in Besengau .
history
Ober- and Unterwaldbehrungen are probably the oldest settlements in the Besengau. They were mentioned in a document as early as 795 and originally formed a community called Waldbaring. The local ending ... ing suggests a Thuringian foundation.
Oberwaldbehrungen, located on the edge of the area of the Hochstift Würzburg , was given to the lords of Tann as a fief in 1480 , making it an exclave of the Tann lordship . The Lords of the Tann introduced the Reformation in 1553/1554 . Until 1670 the place was an ecclesiastical branch of the evangelical neighboring town of Urspringen, which was already in the Henneberg and later the Saxon office of Lichtenberg .
After the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , the imperial-free rule of Tann was mediated with Oberwaldbehrungen in 1803 and came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Due to the Napoleonic Wars , the area came to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg with the Rhine Confederation Act in 1806 . According to the provisions of the Congress of Vienna , the territory belonged to Bavaria again from 1814 and was incorporated into the Lower Main District . While the former rule of Tann came to the Prussian province of Hessen-Nassau as a result of the German War of 1866 , Oberwaldbehrungen remained with Bavaria.
On July 1, 1972, until then independent municipality Oberwaldbehrungen into town Ostheim vor der Rhoen was incorporated .
