Ismajil Oblast
The Izmail Oblast (also Oblast Ismail ; Ukrainian Ізмаїльська область / Ismajilska oblast , Russian Измаильская область / Ismailskaja oblast ) was an administrative unit in the Soviet Union and the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic . The administrative center was the city of Ismajil . The oblast covered an area of 12,400 km².
The oblast was created by ukase of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union on August 7, 1940 as Akkerman Oblast (with the Akkerman Oblast Center , Russian Аккерманская область) and existed until its dissolution on February 15, 1954, as the area attached to Odessa Oblast has been. On December 7, 1940, the oblast was renamed Ismajil Oblast due to the relocation of the Oblast Center to the city of Ismajil.

The oblast was made up of the following Rajon (the Russian names are given as they reflect the contemporary official names):
- Arzis district with Arzis district center (Арциз)
- Bolgrad district with Bolgrad district center (Болград)
- Borodino district with Borodino district center (Бородино)
- Kilija district with Kilija district center (Килия)
- Rayon Liman with Rajonszentrum Schabo (Шабо)
- Novaya Ivanovka district with Novaya Ivanovka district center (Новая Ивановка)
- Reni district with Reni district center (Рени)
- Sarata district with Sarata district center (Сарата)
- Starokasach district with Starokasach district center (Староказачье)
- Suvorovo district with the Suvorovo district center (Суворово)
- Tarutino district with Tarutino district center (Тарутино)
- Tatarbunary district with Tatarbunary district center (Татарбунары)
- Tusla district with Tusly district center (Тузлы)
