Suworowe (Ukrainian Суворове ; Russian Суворово / Suworowo , Romanian Șichirlichtai ) is an urban-type settlement in southern Ukraine . It is located in the north of Ismajil Rajons at the northern end of Lake Katlabuch .
The place was founded in the course of the repopulation of the area by Bulgarians around 1815 and was with an interruption from 1856 to 1878, when it belonged to the Principality of Moldova , until 1918 as "Szykerlyk-Kitaj" in the Russian Empire , then came to Greater Romania, where it with an interruption between 1940 and 1941 until 1944 in the Ismail district . It has been part of the Ukrainian SSR since 1940/1944, or part of today's Ukraine since 1991, and was renamed Suvorowe in honor of the Russian general Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov after the end of World War II .
