Slobidka (Ukrainian Слобідка ; Russian Слободка / Slobodka ) is an urban-type settlement in southwestern Ukraine in the southeastern parts of the Podolian Plate , about 186 kilometers north of Odessa . It is located on the railway line from Khmelnytskyi to Odessa and the branch line to Moldova about 30 kilometers southeast of the Rajons capital Kodyma and the settlement community also includes the northern village of Pravda (Правда).
The place arose after the construction of the railway from Balta to Kiev ( railway line Borschtschi – Kharkiv ) and from Khmelnyzkyj to Odessa ( railway line Krasne – Odessa ) in the 1870s, when a railway stop was established there. The first station and residential buildings were erected in 1883, and a large station building was erected in 1892 in order to be able to operate the two-way railway to Bălți , which opened in December 1893 . A place slowly developed around the station facilities, the first school was opened in 1901, Slobidka was officially founded in 1938 and received the status of an urban-type settlement. In 1954 the current station building was erected, between 1988 and 1990 the railway lines through the town were electrified.
