Tschornomorske (Ukrainian Чорноморське ; Russian Черноморское / Tschernomorskoje ) is an urban-type settlement in southern Ukraine , about 26 kilometers southeast of the Rajon capital Dobroslaw and about 21 kilometers northeast of the Oblast capital Odessa on the Black Sea .
In addition to the main town, the Chornomorske settlement council also includes the village of Hwardijske (Гвардійське), which is located northeast of Chornomorske inland.
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1802 as Tschabanka (Чабанка), in 1945 it was renamed Hwardijske , then in 1978 in Tschornomorske, in 1988 the closed military town was given the status of an urban-type settlement.
The garrison developed after 1945, in 1967 the 28th Motorized Rifle Division was moved here from Odessa and new barracks and residential buildings were built for the soldiers.
