Serhijiwka (Ukrainian Сергіївка ; Russian Сергеевка / Sergejewka , Romanian Șabolat-Serghiesti ) is an urban-type settlement in Odessa Oblast in southwest Ukraine . It belongs administratively to the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyj and is located south of the city at the end of the Shabolat Liman .
The place came into being in 1887, when the Russian chemist AA Werigo demonstrated the healing effects of the mud that occurs here and a mud bath was set up as a result . A health resort developed from a small settlement and has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1975.
The health resort is mainly visited by Russian tourists. After 1991 the place experienced dynamic tourism development and the sanatoriums that were built during the Soviet era were expanded and expanded.
