Iwaniwka ( Ukrainian Іванівка ; Russian Ивановка Iwanowka ) is an urban-type settlement in southern Ukraine in Odessa Oblast with about 2500 inhabitants (2016) and the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
geography
Ivanivka is located on the Velykyj Kujalnyk (Ukrainian Великий Куяльник ), a 150 km long tributary of the Black Sea 74 km north of the Odessa oblast center .
history
The settlement founded in 1793 was called Mala Baraniwka (Ukrainian Мала Баранівка ) until 1858 and Janowka (Ukrainian Яновка ) until 1945 . The village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops from August 10, 1941 to April 5, 1944 . In 1962 Ivanivka received urban-type settlement status.
