Obudu mountain run

The Obudu Mountain Run (full name Obudu Ranch International Mountain Race, Obudu Mountain Race for short ) is a mountain run in Obudu (State of Cross River , Nigeria ) that has been taking place on the Obudu Plateau since 2005 .

The race was started to promote Obudu Mountain Resort as a tourist area. With US $ 50,000 in prize money for the winners, it is considered the highest endowed mountain run in the world. The premiere of the African Mountain Running Championship was held in 2009. When it was held in 2010, this championship was supplemented by a women's ranking.

The route is completely paved and up to and including 2011 was 11.25 km with a difference of 800 meters in altitude . Since 2012 the men have completed a distance of 13 km and the women one of 9.065 km. The goal is at 1600  m .
