Francis Kibiwott Larabal (born September 15, 1978 in Kasiela , Baringo County ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

Life

After Kasiela Primary School he attended Baringo High School, where he was trained by Bernard Kitirit and competed against later top runners such as Benson Kipchumba Cherono . After graduating from school, he stopped running because he no longer had a trainer and only started again after moving to Nyahururu .

In 2003 he was third in the 20 van Alphen , sixth in the CPC Loop Den Haag and won the Dam tot Damloop . After finishing third in the Egmond Half Marathon in 2004, he had to take a break due to typhoid fever . In autumn he came fourth at Dam tot Damloop.

In 2005 he finished second on the 10 km distance at the Paderborn Easter run . Then he suffered a knee injury that reappeared after a second place at Dam tot Damloop.

In 2006 he returned to competition with a victory at Dam tot Damloop and won the Route du Vin , the Delhi Half Marathon and the Obudu Mountain Run . In 2007 he was fourth in the RAK half marathon and second in the Berlin half marathon , but only came 45th at the road running world championships in Udine . In 2008 he finished fifth at the CPC Loop Den Haag.

In 2009 he switched to the full marathon distance. First he was twelfth in the Paris Marathon and then won the JoongAng Seoul Marathon in the fall . In 2010 he finished ninth in Paris and in 2011 fifth in the Nagano Marathon . In 2012 he finished second in the Tiberias Marathon and won the Nagano Marathon.

Francis Kibiwott Larabal is looked after by the manager Jos Hermens . With his prize money, he bought his parents a piece of land in his home district.
