The Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) , official: Ocean Cruising Club Limited, a company limited by guarantee , is an internationally oriented sailing club for offshore sailors under British law, which refers to the care of members of the worldwide cruising specializes. The club was founded in 1954 under English law by Humphrey Barton after he had crossed the Atlantic from east to west as an ocean sailor in his 25-foot sailing yacht . Membership and organization

In order to become a voting member, ( English full member ), in addition to the approval of another voting member, proof of a 1,000 nautical mile journey on a sailing boat is required . The distance must be covered without stopping and the boat must be less than 70 feet = 21.34 m. Sailors without this power can (associate member, English Associate Member ) place without voting rights in the OCC are when they consider this performance. Awards

The German blue water sailor Susanne Huber-Curphey was awarded the 2017 prize for the one-handed west-east crossing of the Northwest Passage .

Flying Fish magazine

In addition to a quarterly newsletter, the association publishes the association magazine Flying Fish twice a year . This is where the members report on their experience in deep sea sailing and long trips. In addition, possible travel destinations, sea areas and ports are presented.
