Ochmoneks is a punk rock / german rock band from Düsseldorf .

Band history

Ochmoneks was founded in 2015 in Düsseldorf. The band name is based on the TV series Alf , which ran during a rehearsal in the next room. There, the narrow-minded neighbors of the Tanners are called Ochmoneks.

The band members are not born in Düsseldorf, but all moved to the city for professional reasons. In 2017 her debut album In Dur was released via Spinnup . At the same time, the band released their own gin brand Gin Dur. The album reached first place at the radio contest Szene NRW on WDR2 with two songs.

At the German Rock & Pop Prize 2018 , the band achieved first places in the categories "Best Singer" and "Best Album", second places in the categories "Best Newcomer" and "Best Punk Band" and a third place as "Best Hard- Rock band ". The song alcohol-free took first place in the Ruhrcharts of Radio Bochum and Radio Essen . The song Fortuna is dedicated to the football club Fortuna Düsseldorf and was played there at home games in the stadium.

In 2019 the band released their second album with DaCapo . The album was released via Alster Records (distribution: Timezone Distribution ) and was recorded in the Principal Studios (including Die Toten Hosen and Broilers ). It entered the album midweek charts with rank 56 , but it was not enough for the top 100 of the regular album charts at the end of the week. At the same time the band played a tour supporting JBO

Music genre

Musically, the band can be assigned to German rock . Because of their origins, the band is often compared with Die Toten Hosen , especially with their style in the 1980s, although the band itself is less able to appreciate this comparison. The lyrics deal with topics such as celebrations, love and friendship, as well as their loyalty to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
