Oderberg is located on state road 519 in the Upper Harz Mountains at an altitude of about 650 meters between Sankt Andreasberg one and a half kilometers west and Oderhaus two and a half kilometers southeast.

With the incorporation of Sankt Andreasberg into the city of Braunlage on November 1, 2011, Oderberg became a district of the city of Braunlage.
