Königskrug is a district of the city of Braunlage ( district of Goslar in Lower Saxony ).

location

The district is located on the B 4 / B 242 in the Upper Harz at an altitude of around 750 meters between Oderbrück three and a half kilometers northwest and Braunlage three and a half kilometers southeast. Only the Gasthof Königskrug is located directly on the main road. To the northeast in the forest there are a number of ski accommodations. The Königskrug school camp is located several hundred meters southwest of the inn on the old main road.

Königkrug is the starting point for numerous hiking trails and cross-country trails. Just three of them lead to the aft man just a few kilometers away . The Hahnenklee Cliffs can be reached even faster from Königkrug. From there it goes on to the silver pond . Longer hiking trails lead to the Oderteich , over the Bear Bridge to the Wurmberg , over the triangular pile to the Brocken and over Oderbrück to Torfhaus . There are many ways to hike from Königskrug to the core town of Braunlage.

At Königkrug are the remains of the New Castle , a late medieval tower castle , which at 755 m above sea level. NN was the highest castle in Lower Saxony. There is an information board at the former castle site.
