Railway lines of the Oderbruchbahn AG (1941).

The Oderbruch Bahn AG was a railway company , which was founded on February 27 1932nd Shareholders were the Prussian state, the province of Brandenburg and the district of Lebus, each with about a third of the capital . The Oberbarnim district took over the remaining 6% .

The two districts brought in the Oderbruchbahn and the vehicles, which they had built as a municipal company with government support since 1911.

The following standard-gauge small railroad lines with a total length of 111 km were involved:

The main interest in the construction of the railway consisted in the transport of goods from the Oderbruch to Berlin such as deliveries of vegetables and products from the sugar and starch factories as well as distilleries and goods landed on the Oder.

The commissioning of the sections took place between June 6, 1911 and October 8, 1912; The state traffic office of Brandenburg was responsible for the management , which at times also operated under the name of Landeseisenbahndirektion Brandenburg GmbH. The local operations administration, which was also responsible for the Fürstenwalde – Beeskow district railway , the Müncheberger Kleinbahn and the Buckower Kleinbahn , was based in Müncheberg Stadtbahnhof.

The railway was laid out as a single track in standard gauge 1435 mm, maximum speed was 40 km / h, mainly with locomotives of the Prussian type T3 . The track comprised 43 stations.

On January 1, 1941, the previously urban Müncheberger Kleinbahn was also taken over with the five-kilometer route Dahmsdorf-Müncheberg-Müncheberg Stadt. Railway facilities and operations were taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1949. Between 1964 and 1970 the traffic was gradually stopped. The Dolgelin – Seelow Stadt section was used for freight traffic until January 10, 1994; the remnant Fürstenwalde - Waldfrieden served as a siding until 2013.

Oderbruchbahn cycle path

A new 112-kilometer cycle path between Müncheberg, Fürstenwalde and Wriezen was built in 2006-2008 based on the former route of the Oderbruch Railway. However, only a small part of the route runs directly on the old route.
