Odo Woehry

Odo Wöhry (born December 3, 1956 in Hieflau ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and technical director of the agricultural district authority for Styria and head of the agricultural district authority Stainach. Wöhry was a member of the Styrian state parliament from 2000 to 2015 .

education and profession

After elementary school in Weißenbach near Liezen, Wöhry attended the Eisenerz upper secondary school , from which he graduated in 1976 with the Matura . He studied forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and graduated in 1983 with the graduation to Dipl.-Ing. where he wrote his thesis on the income situation in mixed agricultural and forestry farms. Wöhry did his military service in 1982 in the Aigen barracks in the Ennstal with the air defense .

He works as a state employee and technical director of the agricultural district authority for Styria .

politics

Wöhry was initially politically active in the Young People's Party (JVP) and was the founding chairman of the Young People's Party in Weissenbach near Liezen. In 1983 he took over the office of district chairman of the JVP in the Liezen sub-district and became local party chairman of the ÖVP. In 1985 he was elected to the local council and in the following year took over the office of the main district chairman of the JVP Liezen . In addition, he was regional chairman of the JVP Styria and from 1988 district chairman of the ÖAAB in the Liezen sub-district. Within the party, Wöhry also held the office of ÖVP district party chairman in the Liezen sub-district from 1998.

Wöhry was Deputy Mayor Weissenbach bei Liezen from 1993 to 2001 and represented the ÖVP in the state parliament from 2000 to 2015. There he was area spokesman for spatial planning and regional development in the ÖVP state parliament club and, according to his own statements, had his political priorities in the areas of work and economy as well as rural areas.

Private

Wöhry has been married since 1976 and has two sons (* 1977 and 1987) and a daughter (* 1979). He lives in Weissenbach near Liezen.
