Odontites linkii is a semi-parasitic plant species from the genus of the tooth rust ( Odontites ).

description

Odontites linkii is a perennial subshrub that reaches stature heights of up to 50 centimeters. The leaves are entire. On the sterile, basal shoots they reach sizes of 10 to 45 × 1.2 to 4 millimeters, on the flower shoots 5 to 25 × 1 to 2.5 millimeters. The leaves of the sterile shoots fall off early.

The blooming sequence of the flowers of the dense, racemose inflorescences is from bottom to top. The flowers are protogynous and are accompanied by bracts . Most bracts are shorter than 8 millimeters and 2.7 to 5.5 times as long as they are wide. In contrast to the bracts of the similar species Odontites bocconii, they are not crescent-shaped and are as long as the calyx or only slightly longer (0.9 to 1.3 times as long). The calyx teeth are broadly triangular to almost oval. The upper calyx teeth are 0.8 to 1.4 times as long as they are wide, the lower 1.1 to 1.7 times. The light yellow colored crown is 6 to 11 millimeters long. It consists of a corolla tube that is about half the length of the entire crown, a lower lip 2.3 to 4.5 millimeters in length and a helmet 3.7 to 5.3 millimeters in length. The upper pair of stamens is 2.3 to 3 millimeters long, the lower 3.5 to 4 millimeters. The stamens are hairless, the anthers are spiky and have spiral hairs at the top and tubular hairs at the lower dorsal part, their counters tear open over the entire length.

The fruits are inverted egg-shaped capsules .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

distribution

The species occurs in southern Greece , Crete and Cyprus .

Systematics

Within the genus, the species is divided into the species group Odontites bocconii agg. classified. In addition to Odontites linkii , Odontites bocconii belongs to this group.

Within the species Odontites linkii , two subspecies are distinguished:

  • Odontites linkii subsp. linkii
  • Odontites linkii subsp. cyprius (Boiss.) Bolliger (Syn .: Odontites cyprius Boiss. ): It occurs only in Cyprus.
