The Oedenburg (French: Château de l'Œdenbourg , also Petit-Kœnigsbourg or Klein-Königsburg ) is a ruin of a hilltop castle located a few hundred meters west of the Hohkönigsburg in Orschwiller, Alsace ( Bas-Rhin department ) and forms a group of castles with it.
As an annex to the Hohkönigsburg, it was probably built as a simple tower castle in the 12th century . A document from 1174 mentions two towers on the Staufenberg. During the Interregnum period , it was expanded around 1267 by the Lords of Rathsamhausen . In 1398 it was mentioned as part of the Purg zu Kungesperc and in 1417 it was called a desolate castle in Kunsberg , i.e. an abandoned castle.
Remains of walls have essentially only from the late Staufer time investment in humpback blocks with eastern, slightly kinked shield wall against Hohkönigsburg and adjoining, längsrechteckigem Palas with Gothic receive window openings. To the west, at the highest point of the rock, is the stump of the presumably older square keep of residential tower- like dimensions. There are several trenches and ramparts to the west and east, which means that the size of the complex is in no way inferior to its famous neighbor.
