Oestricher castle hill

The Oestricher Burgberg is a hill on the Lenne near Oestrich , a district of Iserlohn .
The formation Pater and Nun with the Grürmannshöhle is striking . The mountain consists of mass limestone , which is broken in the opencast mine . The Oestrich Castle was on the hilltop . Workers found two Germanic pieces of gold from the 4th century at the foot of the mountain in 1928 .
The Burgberg was designated in 1997 with the landscape plan No. 4 "Iserlohn" by the Märkischer Kreis as a nature reserve Burgberg with a size of 41.5 hectares . The nature reserve consists of two parts to the west and east of federal highway 236 .
On the limestone semi-arid lawns at the edges of the eastern quarry, the bee ragwort was detected. The endangered blue dwarf , which can only be found here in the northwestern Sauerland , also lives on these areas in the nature reserve . In 1992, after 24 years , the purple ram on the red list was found again.
