Vesterhav is a planned offshore wind farm in Denmark in the North Sea . The wind farm is located four kilometers off the coast of Jutland . It consists of the sub-areas Vesterhav Nord and Vesterhav Syd .

Announcement of the project

On March 22, 2012, the Danish Parliament passed the draft to tender a 450 MW nearshore wind farm. The project title was named Danish Near Shore Wind tender . The tender volume was reduced to 350 MW on July 14, 2014. The Danish network operator Energinet.dk was responsible for examining the environmental impact and meteorological aspects. From this, the technical framework conditions for the tendering process were developed.

A total of six areas were examined. These were Bornholm, Sæby, Sejerø Bugt, Smålandsfarvandet and Vesterhav Syd and Vesterhav Nord. Only the latter areas were put out to tender.

The Swedish energy supply company Vattenfall won the tender for the construction and operation of the wind farm in September 2016. The winning bid was 0.475 Danish kroner per kilowatt hour or the equivalent of 64.00 euros per megawatt hour of electricity generated.

Construction and technology

A total of 350 MW installed capacity is planned. This would supply around 375,000 households. The Danish government approved the project in November 2016.

In November 2017 Vattenfall to implement 41 wind turbines of the type was known SG 8.0-167 DD at Siemens, Gamesa commissioned. Vattenfall plans to start construction in 2019 and the first electricity production for 2020. [outdated]
